North Temperate Lakes LTER
The NTL LTER program conducts and facilitates long term ecological research on Wisconsin lakes and is a part of the broader US LTER network. Our research program is interdisciplinary and aims to understand the ecology of lakes in relation to relevant atmospheric, geochemical, landscape and human processes.

Iowa Lake Monitoring
In partnership with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the ISU Limnology Lab monitors the water quality of over 130 lakes in Iowa. This includes many physical, chemical, and biological variables (Wilkinson et al. 2024). Dr. Wilkinson directed this program from 2017-2020.
The Des Moines River Water Quality Network (DMRWQN) is a surface water quality monitoring project, conducted by Iowa State University and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Dr. Wilkinson directed this program from 2018-2020. This intensive year round sampling has been performed for 40+ years. Contact the Rock Island District to request access to the river and reservoir data.
